Temporary numbers, explained in plain words
The same thing goes by many names. Here is what each one means and which one you need.
- 01Temporary number
- A phone number you use for a short time instead of your own, then let go. It keeps your real number out of sign-up forms and marketing lists.
- 02Virtual number
- A number that lives online, not on a SIM card in your phone. You read its messages in a browser, even when your phone is off.
- 03Verification number
- A temporary or virtual number used to receive one SMS code for sign-up, login or a password reset. That is what a single-use number here is for.
- 04Rental number
- The same number kept for 1, 7 or 30 days. It suits accounts that ask for the number again, like messengers or two-step checks.
- 05SIM number vs virtual number
- A SIM number belongs to a carrier contract and lasts for years. A virtual number needs no SIM and is faster for one check, but it is not the right choice for an account you plan to keep for years.

Q02Do I pay if the code never comes?
No. A single-use number waits 20 minutes for a code. If nothing arrives, its price goes back to your balance automatically.
Q03Which apps work?

Q04Can I call or send SMS from the number?
No. Numbers only receive SMS. Outgoing texts and calls are not supported.
